The cosmetic industry is increasingly interested in the development of innovative cosmetic formulations characterized by a reduced number of functional ingredients of natural origin in order to respond both to new market demands and to the new regulations undertaken by many countries, increasingly aimed at reducing or prohibit the use of substances deemed harmful to the environment. From this point of view, prototypes of cosmetic formulations have been made using few raw materials, of natural origin and characterized by a specific chemical-physical function in the formulation (emulsifier, surfactant, gelling agent, humectant ...) and cosmetic (antioxidant, antiaging, protective ...) for the application site (body, hair, nails, face ...).

The SHORT INCI LIST formulations can offer consumers safer and more effective products, in accordance with the legislative decisions that many states are adopting and which prohibit the inclusion in beauty products of substances deemed harmful to both health and the environment (example the microplastics). The design and detailed development of a SHORT INCI LIST formulation is necessary to create products that, despite being poor in ingredients, are able to maintain such texture and spreadability as to be appreciated by the consumer.

The concept of the INCI LIST SHORT can be applied to different types of formulations depending on the expected final use and the type of application (creams of different consistency depending on the application of the body, face, hands ..., serums, gels, ointments, waters micellar, spray formulations, balms, shampoo)
The chemical and physical stability over time of different types of SHOR INCI LIST formulations has been tested with positive results. Some formulations have also been subjected to a sensory analysis in order to understand the skin feeling of the formulation by the user. The responses to sensory tests related to the spreadability and texture of the products are the results comparable to the data obtained from rheological measurements.
