Il Centro Interdipartimentale per la ricerca Industriale (CIRI) Fonti Rinnovabili, Ambiente, Mare ed Energia dell'Università di Bologna sviluppa attività di ricerca applicata di interesse industriale su differenti tematiche. La finalità del CIRI FRAME è quella di promuovere, coordinare e svolgere attività di ricerca industriale, di promozione dei risultati della ricerca e di trasferimento tecnologico, in stretta interazione con le aziende, nel campo delle fonti rinnovabili di materie prime e di energia; dello studio e della salvaguardia dell’ambiente; dello studio e dell’uso del mare e delle coste; della sostenibilità nella produzione e uso dell’energia; della riduzione dell’emissione di gas clima-alteranti. Si articola in 3 Unità Operative (U.O.): “Fonti Rinnovabili e Sostenibilità” (FRS), “Risorse Marine e Crescita Blu” (RMCB), “Tecnologie per l’Energia e l’Ambiente” (TEA). È distribuito sui territori di Ravenna e Rimini, dove è attivo all'interno dei tecnopoli regionali, e su quello di Bologna, dove agisce in collaborazione con i Dipartimenti di Unibo afferenti al CIRI_
